Kearney Patrick - Class Of 1969

 

Patrick Kearney, 70, a resident of South Scranton, died unexpectedly Monday evening at home. His wife of 47 years is the former Patricia Schields.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Frank and Mae G. Daley Kearney. He was a member of St. John Neumann Parish, and was a graduate of both South Scranton Central Catholic High School and Johnson School of Technology. He was employed as an underwriter for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and after his retirement he was employed by Community Bank as a courier. Pat coached South Scranton Little League, was a member of South Scranton Merchants Bowling League for 54 years and was a member of South Scranton Merchants Golf League. He used to joke that he was “the proud owner” of the Green Bay Packers, and was an avid fan of the Yankees, N.C. Tarheels and Riverside Athletics. He also enjoyed his trips to Atlantic City. Pat’s greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Also surviving are three daughters, Kimberly Ann Higgins and husband, Timothy, Moosic; Kelly Saar, Scranton; Erin Heun and husband, Ryan, Norristown; his son, Sean Patrick Kearney and wife, Jill, Taylor; four grandchildren, Jeffrey, Patrick and Brady Higgins, and Noah Saar; his sister, Marita Kearney, Scranton; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; his best friends, Randy Palko and wife, Ann; and Mike Granahan and wife, Trese; many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Friday at 9:30 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Neumann Parish, Nativity of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., to be celebrated by Monsignor Joseph Quinn, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
