Joseph O'Shea - Class Of 1965

Joseph O'Shea, 74, of Olyphant peacefully passed away Wednesday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. His wife of 42 years is the former Susan Kushmerick.

Born Dec. 29, 1947, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Joseph J. O'Shea Sr. and the late Esther Gallagher O'Shea. Growing up in Minooka, Joe was a graduate of South Catholic High School and served in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. Prior to retirement, he worked as an inspector for the state of Pennsylvania Department of Weights and Measures. He was a member of Queen of Angels Parish at St. Michael's Church, Jessup.

Joe was an avid golfer and member of Elmhurst County Club. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be remembered for his ability to live life to the fullest, never wanting a good time to end. Of all the roles Joe fulfilled, he was most proud to be "Papa" to his granddaughter Nora, who was the light of his life.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Susanne Burns, her husband, Tim and granddaughter, Nora, South Abington Twp.; a sister, Peggy O'Shea and companion, Tom McDermott, Minooka; and brothers, Kevin O'Shea and wife, Michelle, Minooka, and Brian O'Shea and wife, Maureen, South Abington Twp.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Monday from the Louis M. Margotta Funeral Home, 511 Church St., Jessup, with Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church. Interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Jessup. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 57 N. Franklin St., Wilkes Barre, PA 18701.
