Edward Gregorczyk Jr., 71, of the Greenwood section of Moosic, died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. 

Born Nov. 10, 1946, in Scranton, he was a beloved son to his surviving mother, Agnes Koproski Gregorczyk, and the late Edward Gregorczyk Sr., who passed away Jan. 18, 2017.

Eddie G. served his country in the Army, receiving the Army Commendation Medal, Air Medal and Purple Heart from an injury suffered June 3, 1968, in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam, he achieved the rank of sergeant. 

He was a parishioner of Divine Mercy Parish and a former member of St. Mary of Czestochowa, Moosic. He was previously employed by The Scranton Times and Tobyhanna Army Depot, retiring in May 2007. He was also a devoted member of the American Red Cross. 

Ed was an active member of Glenmaura National Golf Club and inducted into the Chic Feldman Foundation in April 1997 and the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame in October 1998. His outstanding achievements in golf had him win 186 major tournaments with records still not matched. His love for golf lasted for decades and he enjoyed spending his free time repairing golf clubs.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Marlene Gregorczyk, of Moosic; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. 

The funeral will be Thursday at 9:30 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St., Taylor, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis St., by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli. Interment with full military honors provided by AMVETS of Greater Pittston in St. Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Moosic. 

Family and friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
