Nancy Barrett - Class Of 1963

Nancy Barrett, 77, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, surrounded by family. The daughter of the late John and Ursula Kennedy Barrett, Nancy attended South Catholic High School and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church until its closing. She was the proprietor of the Yankee Lunch and Nancy Barrett Ceramics until her passing. Nancy was a loving mother, friend and, most of all, an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren who adored her. She was known for her kindness, generosity and quick one-liners. Her fondest memories were made with family and friends at "the shop," "the lunchroom" and Lake Lowe. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by a daughter, Tammy Leety and husband, Seth; a son, Jason Murray and Sarah O'Neill; three grandchildren, Aaron Leety, Noah Leety and William Leety; and numerous close cousins, friends and godchildren. In accordance with her wishes, she has been cremated. Friends and family may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave. A blessing service will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul McDonnell, O.S.J. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
