Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Fred and Erma Wagner Kerner. He was a graduate of South Catholic High School. He played softball for many years and enjoyed watching sports. He served in the United States Navy and was a survivor from the attack on the USS Liberty in June 1966. He retired from Sandvik Steel.
Surviving are his sister, Erma Capozzi and husband David, Lakehurst, N.J.; nieces, Donna Saafi, and husband, Andrew, Patricia Frost and husband, David; and nephew Christopher Capozzi, a great-niece, four great-nephews and a great-great nephew. Private funeral services and interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Avenue, Scranton, Pa.
